In November 2007, HOTREC launched a dialogue with hotel review sites over a proposal for 10 principles relating to their functioning. Such sites add new dimensions to the transparency of the offer and allow for a more comprehensive hotel search, according to the individual needs of the traveller. On occasion, however, hotels have difficulties with their treatment on such sites. HOTREC launched this dialogue in order to ensure that the evaluations on such sites reflect the reality as much as possible.
Following the latest adjustment of the 10 principles in December 2010, HOTREC received in January-February 2011 the following self-assessments/replies from hotel review sites:
